A laboratory model of airway and blood vessels

Jun 25, 2024

The AAIR Charity awarded Drs Cornelia Blume and Lareb Dean funding to make a laboratory model of airway and blood vessels, representing the area of gas exchange in the lungs. The model will be used by Dr Dean to investigate the impact of air pollution on lung health and potential systemic effects. The AAIR Charity is further supporting Dr Dean’s Fellowship to examine how air pollution particles at increasing temperatures affect the lungs. She will use several different lab models to understand the interactions between air pollution and heat in the context of global warming, and the subsequent impact on human health.
