SUPPORT AAIR
Wills & Legacies
It’s a common myth that only the rich and famous leave money to charity when they die. This couldn’t be any further from the truth. The reality is without the gifts left in wills, many of the charities we know and support today wouldn’t even exist.
Gifts left to AAIR are essential to help pioneering research into asthma, allergy and inflammatory lung diseases. With your help we hope to improve treatments and one day find cures for these diseases.

Gifts
Leaving our charity a gift in your Will means that our pioneering research into asthma, allergy and inflammatory lung diseases can continue in the hope that one day we can find cures for these diseases.
There are three main types of gift you can make to support our research in your Will are as follows:
- A residuary gift –a percentage of your estate;
- A pecuniary gift – a specific amount of money of your choosing; or,
- A specific gift – for example, jewellery or property.
To make sure your gift reaches us it’s important that you include our charity’s full name and number in your Will: Asthma, Allergy and Inflammation Research Trust Limited (Charity Number: 1129698). We recommend you use a solicitor or professional Will writer to ensure your Will is legal and valid; they will also be able to answer any questions you may have.
Gifts to charities are 100% tax free and will be taken out of your estate before any inheritance tax is paid. Also, if you leave 10% of your net estate to charity, it may, under current law, reduce the overall rate of any inheritance tax you pay.
If you’ve already written your Will, you can ask a solicitor or professional Will writer to make amendments at any time, if the change is considered quite simple it may be that it can be affected by a Codicil (signed and witnessed in the same way as a Will) to save you re-writing your Will and you can do this yourself.
There is no need to inform us of a gift you are leaving in your Will but if you wish to, please do; it will greatly assist us with forward planning and it’s nice for us to be able to acknowledge and thank our donors.
We would like to extend our most sincere condolences to friends and family of those who have kindly left legacies to the Charity. Thank you.
